OMG. she designed my oliver twist book cover! AND STEVEN IS THE BOMB!!! <-- wow. i wonder who wrote that.

Hi, it is such an honour for me to come across ur interview article. lol

srsly. i think 95% of the reason i bought the book was because of the awesome cover.
i haven't even finished reading the book yet. it's been about 3 years. LOL! it was really hard to concentrate on the old english. maybe now with additional years of eng-reading-training from law i'd be able to und the book better. heh heh heh.

The myth of originality and the joy of copying by Adrian Shaughnessy
Originality isn't all its cracked up to be. For a start, it doesn't really exist. The idea that smething can be said to be truly original is laughable. There is no immaculate conception. Everything comes from somewhere. If we were ever to be confronted with an artefact or an idea that was genuinely original, we wouldn't be able to see it or understand it. We wouldn't have any reference points with which to identify it.

Certainly, the art world doesn't share the commercial world's hang-ups about copying. For centuries, artists have learned their craft by copying the work of the masters who went before. No classical education was complete without the act of study, absorbing and copying the past - especially antiquity.

Copyright - an unnatural law

Just as our biological life is made possible by the ability of our cells to replicate themselves, so too does our creative life depend on our ability to replicate forms, ideas and expressions that already exist. We are all copyists - and we should be glad.
